to give 10% of his wealth to the less fortunate
Giving What We Can’s standard 10% Pledge is a commitment to donate at least 10% of income, not 10% of wealth.
Full reasoning
This misstates what the Giving What We Can pledge is.
On Giving What We Can’s official pledge page, the 🔸10% Pledge is defined as a public commitment to give at least 10% of income to effective charities. The site also separately explains that members can additionally include wealth if they want, but that is not what the standard 10% Pledge itself means.
Their members page uses the same wording, describing lifetime members as people who have committed to donate 10% or more of their lifetime income.
So saying Dario Amodei took the pledge "to give 10% of his wealth" is inaccurate; the core pledge is about income, not wealth.
