Fox’s official corporate biographies contradict this wording.

• Fox’s page for Lachlan K. Murdoch says he is the “Executive Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Fox Corporation” and that he served as Executive Chairman of 21st Century Fox until the Disney deal closed in March 2019.
• Fox’s page for Rupert Murdoch says Rupert “previously served as Chair of Fox Corporation from March 2019 to November 2023.”
• Fox’s September 21, 2023 transition announcement likewise says that after Rupert stepped down, Lachlan would “continue as Executive Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Fox Corporation” and would become sole Chair of News Corp, not Fox.

So the article’s claim that Lachlan was named “the chairman and CEO” of Fox Corporation after the Disney transaction is inaccurate. The official title structure was: Rupert Murdoch = Chair of Fox Corporation (2019–2023), Lachlan Murdoch = Executive Chair and CEO.

The court records do not name Rupert or Lachlan Murdoch as defendants in Dominion’s $1.6 billion litigation.

In the original Delaware action, the court states: “Dominion allege[s] that Defendant Fox News Network, LLC (‘Fox’) published false and defamatory statements” about Dominion. The named defendant there was Fox News Network, LLC.

In the later related corporate-parent case, the court explains that Dominion filed a separate complaint seeking to extend liability to “Fox Corporation” and “Fox Broadcasting Company, LLC.” The opinion discusses allegations that Fox Corporation acted through Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, but that is different from Rupert and Lachlan being named defendants themselves.

So this sentence is inaccurate because it turns allegations about Rupert and Lachlan’s role inside Fox into a statement that they personally were the defendants. The defendants identified by the court were the corporate entities, not Rupert or Lachlan Murdoch individually.

This parenthetical is contradicted by Fox Corporation’s own SEC filings.

Fox states in its SEC materials that “FOX’s principal executive offices are located at 1211 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10036.” Another Fox filing likewise says “The Company’s principal executive offices are located at 1211 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10036.”

Fox does have major operations in Los Angeles, including the FOX Studio Lot, but its official principal executive offices / headquarters are listed in New York City, not Los Angeles.
