Claim
Nydia Gonzales
Correction
The American Airlines operations specialist’s surname is Gonzalez, not Gonzales.
Full reasoning
The article misspells the surname of the American Airlines operations specialist who handled Betty Ong’s call.
Hard evidence:
- The 9/11 Commission’s witness biography identifies her as Nydia Gonzalez.
- In the Commission hearing transcript, she explicitly spells her own last name as “Gonzalez -- G-o-n-z-a-l-e-z.”
Because the official hearing materials identify and spell her surname as Gonzalez, the article’s “Gonzales” here is incorrect.
