The Portuguese presidency’s official record for 17 October 2025 says President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa received Infanta Sofía at the Palácio de Belém and explicitly calls it “o seu primeiro encontro oficial com um Chefe de Estado estrangeiro” (“her first official meeting with a foreign head of state”). It also says there was an official photograph and a signing of the Book of Honour before their meeting.

That directly contradicts the article’s description of the event as a “private casual meeting.” Whatever its tone may have been, the Portuguese head of state’s office classified it as an official meeting, not a casual private one.

The page is for the same type of event — “Recepción ofrecida a las autoridades de las Illes Balears y a una representación de la sociedad balear” — and its downloadable images are labeled “SS.AA.RR. la Princesa de Asturias y la Infanta Doña Sofía” and “SS.MM. los Reyes y SS.AA.RR. la Princesa de Asturias y la Infanta Doña Sofía.”

So the claim that the 4 August 2025 reception was the first such reception attended by Leonor and Sofía is incorrect: official Casa Real materials show they had attended it the previous year.

Spain’s official summer-time calendar for 2007 states that the period of summer time began on Sunday, 25 March 2007, when the official time in Spain advanced by 60 minutes. The Real Observatorio de la Armada likewise lists 2007 summer time as running from 25 March 02:00 until 28 October 03:00.

Because Infanta Sofía was born on 29 April 2007, Madrid was already observing summer time. That means the local time at birth would have been CEST (UTC+2), not CET (UTC+1).
