This count is outdated. ITV’s own 2026 materials say Love Island has 28 editions worldwide and that Croatia became the 28th territory to commission the format.

ITV's official Press Centre contradicts the article's claim that there have only been twenty-two versions worldwide.
- On 23 April 2026, ITV said: “Love Island is a global powerhouse format with 28 editions worldwide”.
- On 9 February 2026, ITV said Croatia was “the 28th territory to commission Love Island.”
So by early 2026, ITV itself was already counting the franchise at 28, not 22. That makes the article's “twenty-two versions” figure materially incorrect/out of date.
