1 correction found
Personal blogposts, with their laxer restrictions, are not shown by default on LessWrong’s homepage.
This overstates the filtering: personal blogposts are hidden from the homepage’s Latest Posts list by default, but they still appear on the homepage in the Recent Discussion section.
Full reasoning
LessWrong’s own FAQ says two things that contradict this unqualified statement:
- In the homepage docs, the Recent Discussion section "currently" shows all posts, both Personal blogposts and Frontpage posts.
- In the section explaining Frontpage vs. Personal blogposts, it explicitly says Personal blogposts can be viewed "in the Recent Discussion section of the homepage."
So the accurate version is narrower: personal blogposts are not shown by default in the Latest Posts section, but they are still surfaced on the homepage via Recent Discussion. That makes the blanket statement that they are "not shown by default on LessWrong’s homepage" incorrect as written.

Recent Discussion: This section is a purely-time based feed of the most recent comment activity happening on posts. Currently, all posts (both Personal blogposts and Frontpage) are shown.

Frontpage posts have visibility by default. Personal blogposts can be viewed by: i) checking the "show Personal blogposts" checkbox on the homepage, ii) via the All Posts page if "All Posts" filter option is selected, iii) via a user's profile page, iv) in the Recent Discussion section of the homepage.
