Increased the percentage of AI development tasks that Claude "leads" from 0% in March of this year to 26% August
Anthropic’s published figure was not 0% in March. Its own release says Claude led 26% of AI R&D as of August 2026, and reports on that release put the earlier figure at about 1% in March (or under 1% in February).
Full reasoning
Anthropic’s September 17, 2026 write-up on its R&D Automation Index says only that Claude "leads" 26% of Anthropic’s AI R&D work as of August 2026 and describes the earlier comparison point as "under 1% in February". A Reuters report on the same release states the figure had risen from 1% in March. So the post’s wording — "from 0% in March" — gets the earlier baseline wrong: the published comparison points were under 1% in February and about 1% in March, not 0% in March.
