will consist of a GPU named Rubin and a CPU named Vera
NVIDIA’s own announcements describe Rubin as more than just a GPU and CPU: the Rubin platform was introduced with additional networking and infrastructure chips, and later as a six-chip platform.
Full reasoning
This sentence understates what NVIDIA officially announced.
At COMPUTEX 2024, NVIDIA said the Rubin platform would include new GPUs, a new Arm-based CPU (Vera), and advanced networking such as NVLink 6, CX9 SuperNIC, and the X1600 converged InfiniBand/Ethernet switch. NVIDIA did not present Rubin as consisting only of one GPU plus one CPU.
NVIDIA’s later January 5, 2026 technical deep dive made this even more explicit, describing Vera Rubin as a six-chip platform made up of:
- the Vera CPU
- the Rubin GPU
- the NVLink 6 switch
- ConnectX-9
- BlueField-4 DPU
- Spectrum-6 Ethernet switch
So the claim that Rubin "will consist of a GPU named Rubin and a CPU named Vera" is incomplete to the point of being inaccurate relative to NVIDIA’s own published description of the platform.
