It's the lender
NVIDIA’s own disclosures say it is providing guarantees and helping arrange third-party financing, but not acting as the lender itself.
Full reasoning
NVIDIA has publicly distinguished its role in these AI-infrastructure deals from direct lending.
In the company’s August 26, 2026 earnings-call transcript, Jensen Huang said: "Independent capital still underwrites every deal on its own merits. We're not making loans." That directly contradicts the claim that NVIDIA itself is "the lender."
NVIDIA’s August 10, 2026 financing announcement likewise described the plan as "independent compute financing platforms" that would mobilize "third-party capital" from Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs and KKR. NVIDIA said those firms would provide the capital and independently underwrite the projects.
NVIDIA does appear to be taking on other forms of exposure — including guarantees, credit support, revenue-sharing arrangements, equity investments, and in some cases extended payment terms for customers — but those are not the same thing as being the lender in the ordinary sense. Based on NVIDIA’s own statements, the financing is being underwritten by outside capital providers, not by NVIDIA making loans itself.
