This caption gives 1898 as the date for Fiumana, but authoritative catalog records do not. Palazzo Citterio’s official collection page lists the painting’s year as 1895–1896 and says the canvas "was painted by Pellizza da Volpedo between 1895 and 1896." Italy’s General Catalog of Cultural Heritage likewise catalogs Fiumana as a painting from 1895–1896 and notes that Pellizza returned to the subject only later, in 1898, when he began painting Il Quarto Stato. So the caption appears to have shifted the start of Il Quarto Stato onto Fiumana by mistake.

This biographical note is internally inconsistent and conflicts with the Pellizza association’s own educational material.

• The article says Giacomo Bidone was born in 1884 but had already remained in Volpedo as a working carpenter, become a widower, and moved away by 1891. That would make him about 7 years old at the time of the move, which is incompatible with the rest of the sentence.
• The official educational PDF published by the Associazione Pellizza da Volpedo instead identifies Giacomo Bidone as a carpenter born in Volpedo on 16 November 1844, and says that after 1891 he emigrated to America.

So the entry’s birth year is almost certainly wrong, and the chronology built on it is impossible as written.

This appears to be a title error rather than a disputed interpretation. The Pellizza association’s own materials repeatedly give the preparatory work’s title as Il cammino dei lavoratori. The same official page lists it as item 8 in the sequence leading to Il Quarto Stato and also quotes Pellizza referring to Il cammino dei lavoratori by that spelling. So Camino here is incorrect; the correct Italian title is Cammino.
