The word mechatronics was registered as trademark by the company in Japan with the registration number of "46-32714" in 1971.
Yaskawa’s own history says the trademark was applied for in 1969 and registered in 1972, not 1971. A later technical review also indicates that “46-32714” is a trademark gazette number, not the final registration number.

There is also evidence that the number 46-32714 is not the final registration number. That means the article appears to confuse a gazette/publication number with the final registration number.
Taken together, the claim is inaccurate on both the year of registration and, likely, the type of number being cited.
