By August 2016, Uygur reported that the channel had more than 23,000 subscribers.
This subscriber figure is far too low. Contemporary reporting shows TYT had about 3 million YouTube subscribers in mid-2016, not 23,000.
Full reasoning
Multiple contemporaneous sources contradict the 23,000 subscribers figure.
- On July 13, 2016, Orchard reported that Cenk Uygur was celebrating TYT's "three millionth subscriber" on YouTube.
- On December 23, 2016, TheWrap reported that TYT had "nearly 3.2 million followers" on its main YouTube channel.
So by August 2016, the channel was already in the millions of subscribers, not merely 23,000. The Wikipedia text appears to have dropped two zeros or otherwise misstated the count by a very large margin.
