This claim is outdated. Signal’s own support documentation now says: “No. You can not send or receive insecure SMS/MMS with Signal.” The same page adds that Signal used to support SMS in the Android app but this functionality was removed. Signal’s official blog also announced the removal of SMS support from Signal Android in October 2022 and explained that the feature was being phased out. So the article’s present-tense statement that the Android version of Signal can function as an SMS application is no longer correct.

This date confuses accession with coronation. Encyclopaedia Britannica states that Louis XIV was king of France from 1643 to 1715, meaning he became king in 1643 when his father Louis XIII died. A Metropolitan Museum of Art entry identifies June 7, 1654 specifically as the coronation of Louis XIV at Reims. So June 7, 1654 was the date of his coronation ceremony, not the date he became king.

This mixes up the application date with the grant date. The U.S. Census Bureau says Hollerith submitted a patent application for his tabulating system and that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued the patent on January 8, 1889. A digitized copy of the patent also shows “dated January 8, 1889” and “Application filed June 8, 1887.” So June 8, 1887 was when Hollerith filed for the patent, not when he obtained it.
