Other funders like Longview and Macroscopic are far more opaque, not even publishing the amounts to grantees.
This overstates Longview’s opacity. Longview publicly posts grant reports that name grantees and list dollar amounts.
Full reasoning
As written, this claim is inaccurate at least with respect to Longview, which is named explicitly.
Longview has a public grant report page for its Emerging Challenges Fund that lists specific grantees and the amounts granted, including:
- $100,000 to FAR AI
- $50,000 to Blueprint Biosecurity
- $20,000 to Decision Research
That same page says Longview will publish grant reports on its website. Longview’s general grantmaking page likewise says donors can receive regular reports on our regrants, our reasoning for those grants, and program updates.
So the blanket statement that funders like Longview are “not even publishing the amounts to grantees” is wrong. Longview may be less transparent than the author would like, but it does publicly disclose at least some grantee names and grant amounts.

Longview Philanthropy has recommended the following grants to the Emerging Challenges Fund: $100,000 to FAR AI ... $50,000 to Blueprint Biosecurity ... $20,000 to Decision Research. ... the main change is simply that Longview will publish grant reports, rather than Giving What We Can publishing reports with help from Longview.
