This item count is outdated. The Zentralbibliothek Zürich's own website now says it has over seven million media, including a page stating it has over 7.5 million items.

The claim uses the word "currently", so it should match the library's present-day holdings. But the Zentralbibliothek Zürich's own official pages now give substantially higher totals:
- On its About us page, the library says it has "over seven million media".
- On an official Guided tour: History and architecture of the ZB page, it states more specifically that it has "over 7.5 million items".
Those figures directly contradict the statement that the library currently houses "some 5.1 million items". Even the more conservative official figure (over seven million) is well above 5.1 million, so the Wikipedia text is clearly outdated rather than current.
