Claim
In early 1979, Cullotta moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to join Spilotro
Correction
Multiple reliable sources place Cullotta’s move to Las Vegas in 1978, not early 1979.
Full reasoning
This date is contradicted by both contemporaneous reporting and later local reporting.
- In a 1986 UPI report on Cullotta’s testimony, UPI wrote that “Cullotta said he moved to Las Vegas in May 1978.” That is a direct statement about the date from reporting on his court testimony.
- The Las Vegas Review-Journal likewise reported in Cullotta’s 2020 obituary that “Chicago-born Cullotta came to Las Vegas in 1978.”
Because both sources place the move in 1978—and one of them specifically says May 1978—the article’s claim that he moved there in early 1979 is incorrect.
