But a contemporaneous repost of the original Chinese article on Huxiu, explicitly identified as coming from Bob Chen’s WeChat account 嬉笑创客 and carrying the same title, says:
“真正的白领……在整个就业人口中占比不足15%”
That means “less than 15% of total employment” — not less than 4%. The Chinese repost also does not give the “~30 million” figure found in the English text.
So this is not a minor wording issue; it materially changes the size of the group being described. The English article’s 4% / 30 million figure contradicts the source text it is presented as translating.
