This post overstates what was on the table at the start of Rhythm 0. Multiple museum sources describing the work say Abramović placed a gun and a single bullet among the 72 objects, not a gun that was already loaded.

• MoMA's 2010 press release for Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present says: "Among them were scissors, a knife, a whip, a gun, and a single bullet." The same document then separately says that by the end of the performance she "had the loaded gun pressed against her head," which shows the gun became loaded later rather than being presented that way from the outset.
• MoMA's exhibition audio similarly says the objects included "a whip, a scalpel, a gun and a bullet," and Abramović recalls that later "somebody put the bullet in the pistol," again indicating it was not initially loaded.
• The Irish Museum of Modern Art also describes the setup as "a gun with one bullet," not a pre-loaded gun.

So the specific claim that there was "a loaded gun" beside her at the start is inaccurate; the stronger, source-supported wording is that there was a gun and a bullet, and an audience member later loaded it during the performance.
