It then says that on June 23, 1887, the Rocky Mountains Park Act expanded that reserve and it officially became Rocky Mountains National Park, the first national park in Canada. Parks Canada further explains that this first national park “eventually became Banff National Park through the National Parks Act of 1930.”
So the post compresses several stages into one and gets the name wrong for 1887: the Act did not create Banff National Park under that name in 1887. It created Rocky Mountains Park (the predecessor later renamed Banff National Park).
