Whereas all the prize money in real life tournaments is in cEDH anyway, the only money in traditional formats are in Pro Tours and on Arena.
This is incorrect: paper non-cEDH Magic events outside the Pro Tour and Arena do offer cash prizes. Wizards’ own 2026 Spotlight Series events have $50,000 prize pools, and Regional Championships also have cash prize pools.
Full reasoning
Official Wizards of the Coast materials contradict this claim.
- Magic Spotlight Series events in 2026 are real-life tabletop events, not Pro Tours and not Arena-only events, and Wizards says each non-Team Limited Spotlight event has a $50,000 prize pool.
- Regional Championships likewise award paper-event cash prizes. Wizards’ 2025–2026 season update says the combined Brazil/South America Regional Championship has a $36,000 prize pool, and the accompanying Open has a $4,000 prize pool.
So it is not true that "the only money in traditional formats are in Pro Tours and on Arena." There is documented cash prize money in other real-life traditional-format events as well.
