A later SFBay profile is consistent with that timeline, saying he got his break "at the age of 18" after his music was discovered by a London-based record label.

The article may be conflating the 2013 release of Demons (when he was 20) with the earlier signing itself, but the specific claim that he signed at age 20 is contradicted by Tree's own interview and later coverage.

In a 2013 Tiny Mix Tapes interview, Tree said that "on his 18th birthday" he decided to launch a new recording project under the name Tree. Apple Music's artist bio lists his birth date as June 29, 1993. That means his 18th birthday was June 29, 2011.

So if the Tree project began on his 18th birthday, the launch year was 2011, not 2010.
