Later, he completed the proof of the André–Oort conjecture for the Shimura variety by reducing the problem to the averaged Colmez conjecture
Tsimerman's reduction to the averaged Colmez conjecture gave a proof for \(A_g\) / Siegel modular varieties, not for all Shimura varieties. The full general proof for arbitrary Shimura varieties came later in a 2021 paper with Jonathan Pila and Ananth Shankar.

This sentence conflates two different milestones in the André–Oort story.
- Tsimerman's solo result proved the conjecture for (A_g), the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties (a Siegel modular variety), not for all Shimura varieties. The title and abstract of his paper are explicit: "We give a proof of the André-Oort conjecture for (A_g)."
- The full general proof for arbitrary Shimura varieties came later in the 2021 paper "Canonical Heights on Shimura Varieties and the André-Oort Conjecture", whose abstract says: "The main purpose of this work is to prove the André-Oort conjecture in full generality." That paper is by Jonathan Pila, Ananth N. Shankar, Jacob Tsimerman, Hélène Esnault, and Michael Groechenig.
So it is incorrect to say that the averaged-Colmez reduction completed the proof "for the Shimura variety" generally. That step established the conjecture for (A_g) / Siegel modular varieties; full generality came later with the multi-author 2021 work.

In July 2014, he was awarded a Sloan Fellowship
Tsimerman's Sloan Research Fellowship was part of the 2015 cohort, not a 2014 award. Sloan's grant record lists his fellowship year as 2015, and U of T announced it in February 2015.

This date appears to be off by a year.
- The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation's grant record for Jacob Tsimerman's fellowship lists "Year 2015" for his Sloan Research Fellowship.
- The University of Toronto announced on February 24, 2015 that the Sloan Foundation had named Jacob Tsimerman among that year's fellows.
- U of T's Governing Council minutes from February 26, 2015 likewise refer to Sloan Fellowships awarded "in the current year" and include Jacob Tsimerman.
Those sources contradict the claim that he was awarded the fellowship in July 2014.
