An Open Access fee for a good journal is 1000 USD at minimum.
This is too absolute: some reputable peer-reviewed mathematics journals are open access and charge authors no publication fee at all.
Full reasoning
The claim says a good open-access journal costs at least 1000 USD. That is contradicted by official journal pages for multiple reputable mathematics journals that charge $0.
Examples:
- Annales Henri Lebesgue states on its official “About the Journal” page that it is "fully open access and free of author charges" and that it publishes "high-quality articles across all areas of mathematical research".
- The Centre Henri Lebesgue announcement launching that journal calls it "a high level journal" and says it is "entirely free both for authors and readers".
- Algebraic Combinatorics states on its official “About the Journal” page that "Authors are not charged for publication in this journal" and that there is no submission fee or article processing fee.
Because there are clearly peer-reviewed mathematics journals presented as high-quality/high-level venues with no APC at all, it is incorrect to say that the minimum open-access fee for a good journal is 1000 USD.
