This post was published on September 18, 2026. By that date, NVIDIA had announced a pending acquisition of Hugging Face, not a completed purchase.
NVIDIA's own announcement says it had "agreed to acquire" Hugging Face, which indicates a deal agreement rather than a consummated acquisition. NVIDIA's SEC Form 8-K is even more explicit: it says NVIDIA "entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Hugging Face" and that "[t]he transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to ... required regulatory approvals."
So the statement that Hugging Face "were purchased by @nvidia" was premature on the date of the post. A more accurate phrasing would have been that NVIDIA had agreed to acquire Hugging Face, with closing still pending.
