The 2008 conviction was not for manslaughter. Romanian and European court records describe the offense as murder/attempted murder (Romanian: omor deosebit de grav), i.e. aggravated murder, not manslaughter.

Authoritative case records say Stănculescu and Mihai Chițac were prosecuted and finally convicted for murder and attempted murder / aggravated murder, not manslaughter:
- In the European Court of Human Rights decision about Stănculescu and Chițac, the Court states they were committed for trial on "charges of aggravated murder" and that the High Court's final judgment of 15 October 2008 upheld the conviction.
- A Romanian appellate decision summarizing the same criminal case states that Stănculescu and Chițac were convicted for "omor deosebit de grav" and attempted "omor deosebit de grav". In Romanian criminal-law usage, that is aggravated / exceptionally serious murder, not manslaughter.
So the page's phrase "aggravated manslaughter" is inaccurate; it should refer to aggravated murder (and attempted aggravated murder), or at minimum murder/attempted murder.
