Official Avatar canon does not say the Hallelujah Mountains are made of unobtanium. It says they are supported by magnetic fields associated with a massive unobtanium deposit, and unobtanium ore is described as rare.
Full reasoning
Avatar’s own official reference material contradicts this. Pandorapedia describes unobtanium ore as "a rare, precious material", not something that simply makes up whole mountains. It also says the mineral’s presence creates some of Pandora’s unusual geological features. A separate official entry on the Hallelujah Mountains says their floating behavior is "attributed to the massive unobtanium deposit that was found" there. In other words, canon describes a deposit associated with the mountains, not mountains literally composed of unobtanium.
So the article’s phrasing goes beyond the source material: the mountains float because of a major unobtanium deposit and magnetic effects, not because the mountains are themselves "made of" unobtanium.
