In July 2025, he assumed the Chair in Modern European History at Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto, funded by the Temerty Family Foundation.
This date is too late. University of Toronto sources already identified Snyder as holding that chair by February 26, 2025, and said on May 21, 2025 that he had joined U of T earlier that year.
Full reasoning
Official University of Toronto sources place Snyder in the chair before July 2025.
- A Munk School event page for February 26, 2025 lists Timothy Snyder as "Chair in Modern European History Supported by the Temerty Endowment for Ukrainian Studies."
- A U of T News article published May 21, 2025 says Snyder "joined U of T’s Munk School as a professor and inaugural Chair in Modern European History ... earlier this year."
Those sources show he was already in the role months before July 2025, so the article's statement that he assumed the chair in July 2025 is incorrect.
