Every municipality in the Western Cape wants to be governed by the Democratic Alliance.
This overstates DA support. At least one Western Cape municipality, Kannaland, did not choose the DA in the latest local-government election and is led on its official website by an ICOSA mayor, not the DA.
Full reasoning
This claim is too absolute.
Municipalities are governed through municipal councils, so the most relevant evidence is the local government election, not a provincial or national map. In the 2021 local government election, SAnews reported that Kannaland Local Municipality in the Western Cape was not won by the DA: ICOSA received 45.2% of the vote and 3 seats, the ANC got 21.52% and 2 seats, and the DA got 20.52% and 1 seat.
Kannaland’s own municipal website also shows that the municipality is not DA-governed: its councillor pages list Alderman Jeffrey Donson with party affiliation: ICOSA, and the municipal councillors page lists him among the current councillors. That directly contradicts the statement that every municipality in the Western Cape wants DA governance.
So even if the author is inferring from another election map, the blanket statement is inaccurate: at least one Western Cape municipality did not choose the DA for local governance, and its official leadership is not DA-led.
