Dan Newlin, nominee to be ambassador to Colombia
This is outdated. Dan Newlin withdrew from consideration, and President Trump later nominated Nate Morris for the Colombia ambassadorship.
Full reasoning
This endorsement entry describes Dan Newlin as the current nominee for U.S. ambassador to Colombia, but that was no longer true by June 2026.
WESH reported on June 3, 2026 that Newlin withdrew and "will not be serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Colombia." The same report says President Trump "has now selected former Kentucky U.S. Senate candidate Nate Morris for the job."
A separate June 2026 report from WKMS/WKU Public Radio likewise says Nate Morris has been nominated for the ambassadorship and notes that this followed Morris leaving the Kentucky Senate primary for a White House role.
So calling Newlin the current "nominee to be ambassador to Colombia" is inaccurate; he was a former nominee whose candidacy had ended.
