Chimborazo is not a Paleogene volcano. Volcanology sources date the volcanic edifice mainly to the Pliocene–Pleistocene/Quaternary, with activity continuing into the Holocene.

- Ecuador’s Instituto Geofísico also describes the present Chimborazo edifice as three successive buildings active roughly from 120,000 years ago to the Holocene, again far younger than the Paleogene.
So the infobox age is off by tens of millions of years; the volcano is chiefly Pliocene–Pleistocene/Quaternary, not Paleogene.
