China’s Baidu has ~2000 cars under “Apollo Go” in 6 cities.
Baidu’s own 2026 disclosures say Apollo Go operated in far more than six cities.
Full reasoning
This understates Apollo Go’s city footprint.
Baidu’s own investor materials say that:
- Since February 2025, Apollo Go has achieved 100% fully driverless operations in all cities where it operates in mainland China, including eight named cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Chengdu, Chongqing, Haikou, and Sanya.
- In Baidu’s Q2 2026 results, the company said Apollo Go’s global footprint had reached 28 cities.
So the article’s quoted figure of “6 cities” is not consistent with Baidu’s official 2026 disclosures. Even restricting to mainland China, Baidu listed at least eight cities with fully driverless Apollo Go operations; globally, it reported 28 cities.
