This claim gives the wrong year for Peter and Nancy Lanza's divorce.

The Connecticut Office of the Child Advocate's official Sandy Hook report states that Adam Lanza's parents separated in 2002 and did not get divorced until 2009. That directly contradicts the statement that the divorce happened in 2008.

So the article should not say his mother raised him following his parents' divorce in 2008. The official record says the separation was in 2002 and the divorce was finalized in 2009.

This statement misstates Adam Lanza's age when he received his diploma.

The Connecticut Office of the Child Advocate's report says Lanza was born on April 22, 1992 and that his education plan provided that he would graduate early and exit special education services on June 26, 2009.

Because June 26, 2009 is more than two months after April 22, 2009, Lanza had already turned 17 by the time he received his diploma. That means the article's statement that he earned it at age 16 is incorrect.

The statement is incorrect because the official Connecticut review documents mental-health contact after 2006.

The Office of the Child Advocate report says that after the Yale evaluation, Lanza was seen by the Yale Child Study Center APRN, who had four face-to-face meetings with him between October 2006 and February 2007, plus additional email and telephone contacts with his parents during that same period.

The same report also says billing records showed treatment by the community psychiatrist at least from October 2005 through December 2006, with family payments continuing through July 2007 and one payment in October 2008.

Those official records directly contradict the claim that he had no contact with mental-health providers after 2006.
