The college’s own official history says that in 1936 the institution became California College of Arts and Crafts, and that it did not change again until 2003, when it became California College of the Arts. Since Steve Purcell graduated in 1982, the correct historical name at that time included the final “s” in Crafts.

The pictured comic is Sam & Max, Freelance Police Special #1 from Comico. The Grand Comics Database lists that issue with an on-sale date of 1989-01-17, and its Comico publisher timeline also places the title in January 1989. That means labeling it as a 1988 issue is incorrect.

Comic-Con’s official list of past Eisner recipients shows that Steve Purcell’s 2007 honor was Best Digital Comic: Sam and Max. Comic-Con’s own FAQ explains that the Best Digital Comic category is for online works in comic-book or graphic-novel format. So the 2007 Eisner was for the digital Sam & Max webcomic, not for the printed comic books generally.
