"The American Soldier" (1950 and 2003)
TIME’s 1950 selection was “the American Fighting-man,” not “The American Soldier.” Only the 2003 choice used “American soldier.”

In 1993, Arafat was not president of the Palestinian Authority. The Palestinian Authority was established in 1994, and Arafat was elected its president in 1996.

This is anachronistic. The Palestinian Authority did not yet exist in 1993; Britannica dates its establishment to 1994 as part of the Oslo process. Britannica’s PA history then says elections for the PA presidency were held in 1996, when PLO chairman Yasser Arafat was elected president. Arafat’s Britannica biography likewise describes him as president of the Palestinian Authority from 1996–2004 and notes that in 1993 he led the PLO to a peace agreement with Israel. So in the 1993 Oslo context, Arafat should be described as PLO chairman/leader, not as president of the Palestinian National Authority.
