Authoritative Truman Library genealogy records list John and Martha Truman’s first child as born and died on October 28, 1882 in Lamar, Missouri, with the note “Stillborn.” A separate Truman Library family page for John Anderson Truman also lists that child’s birth and death on the same date. That contradicts the article’s statement that the child died “a few days after birth.”
