Multiple film-industry sources identify Paul Van Carter as the director of Fred. The British Council’s UK Films Database lists the film’s Director as Paul Van Carter, and Salon Pictures’ own documentaries page also credits Director: Paul Van Carter for Fred. A 2017 trade report on Lionsgate’s acquisition of the film likewise says “Fred” was written, and is directed by, Salon’s Paul Van Carter. I found no credible source crediting Jamie Foreman as the director of this documentary.

The available release information contradicts 17 March 2018 as a UK release date. The British Council’s UK Films Database says Fred was an Official Selection at CPH:DOX 2018 – World premiere, meaning its first public showing was at the Copenhagen festival, not a UK release on 17 March. Cineuropa’s coverage of the 2018 East End Film Festival says Fred would have its UK premiere there, and that festival ran 11–29 April 2018, which is after 17 March. For commercial UK release, HMV’s Lionsgate UK DVD listing gives Released: 4th June 2018. Taken together, these sources show that 17 March 2018 is not the correct UK release date.
