This is incorrect by several decades.

CD Projekt RED’s official Cyberpunk 2077 lore page says “Night City was founded by tech giant and visionary Richard Night.” R. Talsorian Games’ official Night City 2045 timeline then dates that founding era precisely: construction on Coronado City begins in 1993, Coronado City is officially incorporated in 1994, and after Richard Night is assassinated in 1998, the city is renamed Night City.

So Night City’s origins are in the 1990s, not the mid-2040s. By the 2040s, the city had already existed for decades.
