  • The French 7% rule was about heating use in homes/buildings, not total national energy consumption, so deriving 185 TWh/year from it is not valid.

  • De Forest’s fraud indictment was brought in 1912, not 1913. Contemporary reporting and later reference works show 1913 was the trial year, while the accusation itself dated to March 1912.

  • This is overstated as a universal claim. Many laying hens are kept in cage-free or other non-battery systems, and conventional battery cages have been banned in the EU since 2012.
  • Poultry scalding tanks are hot, but not near boiling. Typical scalding temperatures are around 50–63°C (122–145°F), far below water’s boiling point of 100°C (212°F).

  • Perez et al. (2022) did not show that these traits form a single latent cluster. The paper reports many separate evaluations and inverse-scaling results, not a factor-analysis-style result about one coherent disposition bundle.

  • This overstates the study it appears to reference. In the main wedding-cost study, under-$1,000 weddings did not have the lowest raw divorce risk; that lower-risk result only appeared after statistical adjustments.

  • Latimer was not working for Edison when he developed and patented this filament improvement in 1882. He was then working for Hiram Maxim’s U.S. Electric Lighting Company, and joined Edison’s company later, in 1884.
  • This caption is incorrect. Metal-filament incandescent lamps predated tantalum lamps: platinum filament lamps were being tested in the 19th century, and Carl Auer von Welsbach patented the first metal-filament lamp in 1898 using osmium.

  • Edison was not the first to demonstrate a carbon-filament light bulb. Joseph Swan demonstrated a carbon light bulb in Newcastle on December 18, 1878, before Edison's October 1879 demonstration.
  • This sentence is doubly wrong: electric light bulbs predated Edison's 1879 lamp, and Edison's carbon-filament bulbs were commercialized in 1880, not in 1879.

  • This payroll total is outdated. After BLS benchmark revisions, the BLS-sourced series shows total nonfarm employment at 158,268 thousand in January 2025, not 159,053 thousand.
  • This starting payroll figure is also outdated. Revised BLS payroll data put total nonfarm employment at 142,863 thousand in January 2021, not 143,443 thousand.

  • This is off by several years. The Census Bureau defines Baby Boomers as those born from 1946 to 1964, so the youngest boomers were still in their late 50s in the early 2020s, not their mid-60s.
